One morning I was stuck in traffic on the bus when a bloke on a scooter whooshed by. Wow! I thought. What an amazing means of transport. I've got to get me one of those (a scooter, not a bloke). So that night, by the power of Amazon, I researched and purchased my very own kick scooter. Yes it's like one of those scooters you used to ride when you were a kid and no it isn't as cool as I imagined in my half asleep state on the bus. It is however an excuse to start up a blog which I hope will include tales of the scoot commute and more.
Thanks to Miss Ruban, Chris and Julian for inspiring the blog. :-)

Spring Scoots - back with a vengeance!

It's been good times on the scooting front recently. Yes the winter months are over and the roadworks are back. So what better way to celebrate than getting out there and reeking havoc on the pavements! And it would seem I'm not the only one with this idea. Yes, others have begun to follow in my scoot-paths and it would appear that they're loving it! Just the other day I was whooshing along when I met a fellow scooter. We shared a slightly embarrassed smile of acknowledgement as we passed each other but what a moment. I suddenly realised how silly this mode of transport really is... but don't worry, you can still mock as I won't be laying the scoot to rest just yet. :)

"What the Scoot- Where's the Scoot?"

"What the scoot- where's the scoot? don't let me break into song but a little drop of rain can hardly hurt you now!" Esther

Yes I've been a little quiet on the scooting front but it's really starting to become a hazardous world out there, what with the students and soggy fallen leaves lying around. I've got to keep it safe you know.
Don't worry though, I've got a super cool scood to accompany my scoots during the winter months. What I hear you ask is a scood? Well, how about I leave that to you to work out. Answers on a post-it note or in the comments of this post please. The winner gets a signed photo. :)

My first (though I doubt last) embarrassing fall

Yep it finally happened just a couple of weeks into my scooting adventures. I fell off. Fortunately there were few people around and I didn't fall into a car, pedestrian or small child. Oh and the injuries were minor (just a bruised knee). Still though, it bloody hurt and when I arrived in work I was far too embarrassed to tell anyone. So, I decided to announce it to the world via Twitter. Humm, must have hurt my head. :)

What the scoot?!

Yep, I've had quite a few 'what the scoot' looks during my scooter commutes. Some people laugh, some smile and others look totally bemused.

My first ridiculing came from a drunken old man in the bank who told me in a slurred tongue that I'm, "way too old for that!" This may well be true but nay mind. Keeps me fit! :)
A week or so after this encounter, I was on my way home when a group of young lads on bikes chased me half way down Oxford Rd. "Wait! Stop!" They shouted and when they finally caught up with me (not that I'm suggesting that catching me was in any way a challenge), I had little choice but to take a breather. "Wow! Where did you get that? How much was it? How fast can you go?" I answered their questions and scooted on my way feeling a little guilty at initially thinking they were nasty kids who would push me off my scooter.
